Established in March 2018, Climate Café® Aberfeldy meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. Currently we meet at the Locus Centre, but this is a temporary venue so please keep your eye out on Facebook for changes.
The normal pattern for our Climate Café® is to have a speaker (usually from our own community) introducing the topic for 15 minutes or so, followed by plenty of lively discussion. We aim to include some actions which we can take away, and within our community there are always folk with good ideas and varying levels of experience in any given topic. Over the past year we have looked at subjects such as home energy, eating sustainably, sustainable travel, rewilding (an outdoor session on a reclaimed golf course), sustainable business, clothing and the environment, to mention a few.
Our Climate Cafe® has organised a few bigger events such as an evening on heat pumps (with an installer and manufacturer), a food waste reduction festival, and following November’s Café on having a Greener Christmas, will have two days of workshops to encourage and enthuse folk to think green, buy less and better this Christmas and beyond.
A number of the regular Climate Café® members are also involved in other community organisations such as Scotland’s Healthiest Town https://www.healthiesttown.org/,
Aberfeldy Repair Cafe https://www.facebook.com/Aberfeldyrepaircafe/ and the Upper Tay Transport Group https://uppertaytransport.org/ as well as Handam zero waste shop and soon to be re-use project. https://www.handam.co.uk/.
