Climate Café® Monterey is focused on the Monterey Bay region of central California, USA.
We are excited to host a monthly community gathering focused on building productive conversation and community around topical climate related issues. We are part of a region wide effort to decarbonize how we live, work, study, recreate, travel and worship. The genesis of this group came through the Climate Reality Project.
Two of our three co-ordinators are certified Climate Reality Leaders. Nan Foster heads up the environmental justice task force at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula. Rev Char Bear co-chairs the Climate Reality Project Monterey Bay CA chapter. Our two organizations share many of the same members, and it is a natural fit to become co-hosting groups.

Our aspirations for this Café are:
- We want to experience deep listening to each other and to learn from each other’s experience.
- We want to explore authentic open questions coming from the grass roots about climate solutions/justice/activism that we can engage.
- We want to share local expertise and peer support.
- We want to encourage public influencers to participate in our groups.
