Climate Café® Nairn

Climate Café<span class="reg">®</span> Nairn

Climate Café® Nairn is in the north of Scotland, meets monthly and is a space for local people to get together to drink, chat and act on climate.

Climate Cafe® Nairn began in 2024 and has been a collaborative partnership between The Highland Weigh and Highlands & Islands Climate Hub.  Climate Café® Nairn takes place on the last Thursday of every month, at The Highland Weigh between 6-8pm.

Anti-fast fashion event, We showed the film Fashion Reimagined which was hugely popular and at the event we had stands from two local shops promoting reuse and repurposing of fabric. We encouraged attendees to bring an item of clothing and had a clothes swap rail which people could browse and take home a new-to-them item of clothing.

Wildfire Awareness hosted with Scottish Fire & Rescue Service. We had a talk about local wildfire risk, response and community engagement in building the Fire & Rescue Service community asset bank. It was a really engaging and informative session which caught the interest of the community.

Launch of Grow Nairn, a new market garden looking to undertake community consultation ahead of applying for lease of local Common Good Land. It was a great session which enabled the community group to be public facing for the first time to an engaged and supportive audience, the participants were invited to ask questions and annotate a draft plan presented for the group to build on community feedback before their next phase of development.
