Climate Café® Strathaven is run by Climate Action Strathaven, a small climate charity based in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. We run a Climate Café® once a month, on the last Sunday of the month, in our Eco Hub at 5 Green Street Strathaven.
Our Climate Café®s started in October 2023 as a way to bring people together to chat and act on Climate Change. Our organisation has always been community-focused, and so the Climate Café® was a natural next step to take to keep the momentum going, and bring new voices to the conversation.
It’s our aim to facilitate a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for people to come together to Drink, Chat, Act.

The conversation around litter has been a constant since the first Climate Cafe, especially in and around our town centre. We held a Litter Picking event as part of our March Climate Cafe, which was well attended, and collected 48.35kg of litter! CAS have also held more regular Litter Picking events in 2024 as a result.

Climate Education has been a key topic for our Climate Cafe discussions, with many feeling it’s difficult to access accurate data, and tangible changes that can be made. Attendees often bring articles they’ve found interesting, sparking conversation and plans for action.
