A week featuring and celebrating local climate action for everyone to get informed, inspired and involved.
This week, Birnam Community Library will have a collection of books on climate – and climate hope – to share.
Monday 23rd September:
11 am – 12.30 pm: Pop up Climate Café®

7 – 8.30 pm: Join a Community Nature Walk by the Birnam Oak
Led by Stewart from the local Paths & Nature Group, to see and chat about biodiversity in the village. Learn more about the Swifts, and the swift box initiative, recent tree planting, nest boxes, non-native species and the impacts they can have on native flora. Meet at the bench on the corner of Station Road, outside Birnam Arts at 6.50 pm.

Tuesday 24th September:
11 am – 12.30 pm: Pop up Climate Café® – Nature
At the Co-working space in Little Dunkeld – tea, coffee and biscuits provided for free.
David Tollick, Conservation Officer, Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust will join to share an update on a one-year project looking at nature finance opportunities for net zero, for nature and for people in the landscape of upper Glenalmond (the Sma’ Glen area, beyond Amulree).

5.30 pm – 7 pm: Business chat about climate and local initiatives – hosted upstairs at Perth Arms.
Led by local business owner Alasdair Wylie, with contributions from local business leaders – including a review of participation in Plastic Free Perthshire – initiated from Dunkeld & Birnam.

7 pm: Big Community Chat on Water – Scotland’s First Water Efficient Village, where next?
Hosted by The Royal Hotel Dunkeld from 7 pm – 8.30 pm.
Share the outcomes of the community survey on water reuse and discuss next steps.
Wednesday 25th September:
11 am – 12.30 pm: Pop up Climate Café® on Energy with Nathan from The HEAT Project
Corbenic Café and Shop, Dunkeld with tea, coffee and cake.

5 pm – 6.30 pm: Join Nathan from The HEAT Project to learn more about Heat Pumps.
At the Co-working space in Little Dunkeld – tea, coffee and biscuits provided for free.
Nathan brings his expertise from The HEAT Project to share more about Heat Pumps, options, how they work and next steps for exploring this as an option for your home or business.

Visit The Field, Community Growing Project
All are welcomed to visit and look around the local community growing project, The Field at the top of Brae Street and chat with the team to find out more about this amazing project and how to get involved, as they harvest the organic produce grown for the community. Thanks to our hosts, the volunteers at The Field.

7.30-9pm: Jewellery Making Workshop using reclaimed plastics and printmaking processes with Nicky!
At the Co-working space in Little Dunkeld – tea, coffee and biscuits provided for free.
In this workshop we’ll use found plastics, simple mono-printing processes and a second-hand cup-cake maker to create beautiful accessories to complement our ethical fashion as part of sustainable fashion week! No experience necessary, just curiosity and a desire to play! Spaces are offered free thanks to funding from Green Living Fund, Perth & Kinross Council.

Dunkeld & Birnam Community Orchard invite you to Big Apple Day, Juicing and Picnic from 11:30 to 14:30. Tea and home baking, apple juicing, harvesting, community stalls, activities for the children. Bring your own picnic and picnic rug.

3 -4.30 pm: Children’s accessory making workshop using recycled materials with Nicky!
In this workshop we’ll use found materials, simple decorating processes and a second-hand cup-cake maker to create beautiful accessories to jazz up our outfits as part of sustainable fashion week!

Join the annual Thanksgiving service with Rev Fraser Penny at Dunkeld Cathedral.
