Creating a Circular Economy, Saturday 3rd August

Enjoy workshops, presentations & get informed through this collaboration from Climate Café®s across Perth & Kinross in Scotland, with Remake Scotland – hosts of Climate Café®  Crieff.

Main Hall opens at 10.30 am am with a Pop up Dunkeld & Birnam Repair Café  – do bring along small items to fix and learn more about their work (and see where to bring larger items on Monday evening to the regular Repair Café); check in with Remake Scotland to find out more information and see samples of different kinds of repairs; find out more about The Nest, Blairgowrie and enjoy Climate Café® space, with tea and coffee – and cookies from Livvi’s. 

10.30 am: Repair Ceramics and give them a new life!

Book a place for free to come along and learn how to mend Ceramics with Janet, an inpsirational session back in the village by popular request! Thanks to support from Dunkeld & Birnam Repair Café for this popular event from 10.30 am – 12.30 ! **Places limited**

Book a space at the 11.30 am Sashiko Workshop with Izzy from Remake Scotland (Free!)

11.30 am Sashiko workshop

Remake are offering a workshop exploring the art of sashiko. A traditional Japanese decorative embroidery often paired with boro repair techniques. Learn more about this fascinating art form and have a go at creating your own design. We will provide you with a part-made zipped bag ready for you to embellish with patches and the distinctive running stitch embroidery. Traditionally done as a slow, mindful skill with hand embroidery, we will supply a selection of patches and colourful threads to work with and a gallery of patterns to inspire you. When you have finished sewing we will help you to sew your bag together ready for you to take home.

2.00 pm (Meeting Room) Sustaining our water resource: Recycled Reuse in Scotland: Presentation and discussion with Hubert Cousin, Hydronation Scholar, University of Dundee 

Following the success of the Water Efficiency project in Dunkeld & Birnam, completed in 2019 with Scottish Water and Home Energy Scotland, that led to becoming Scotland’s First Water Efficient Village – Hubert Cousin, a Hydronation Scholar at the University of Dundee visits to share insights into the challenges and solutions for sustainable water use for our futures; and a community chat about options ahead. Hubert recently returned from a research trip to Spain.
