Why start a Climate Café®?

A Climate Café® is a great way to get a chat started about climate in your community or work place. When the chat starts, action can often follow quickly!

Many Climate Cafés® have started with a presentation from a Climate Reality Leader, trained by Former US Vice President, Al Gore through The Climate Reality Project. This presentation is regularly updated on the latest science, impacts and solutions from right around the world.

A Climate Café® can start a chat about climate in a community, or sustain a chat about climate from action alongside project that is already happening to consider what else could be done, or it can extend a chat into other parts of the community.

In the community where Climate Cafe® started – #ClimateCafe chat went to the pub.

Local musicians joined in, then there were workshops, speakers, art projects, more Pop up Climate Cafés, Swap Shops and it became a festival of Climate chat and action with live music every day. Local businesses donated time and space, artists shared time and talent, the local growing projects joined in, and across the community people contributed to chat and act.

For those who have an established project or programme of climate action then a Climate Café® can just be a space where everyone can come together for a cup of tea and an informal chat about the wider connections to their work and new ideas.
